How it started

At JellyShot, we view businesses as living systems capable of evolving the places, communities, and people they touch.

When we met founders Carolina and Gaby through Mentees at Beyond CPG, we saw a rare alignment. Between Quito and New York City, they were building a business anchored in the bio-cultural richness of Ecuador. At Muze’s core is fine-aroma organic cacao from Manabí, crafted in its own bean-to-bar facility through long-lasting reciprocal relationships with farming families.

Muze wasn’t just another direct-trade chocolate bar. It was a vehicle for systemic vitality.

Traditional branding asks: How do we stand out in a crowded category?

Our approach questioned: How can Muze reveal the living essence of Ecuadorian cacao to transform the consumer’s relationship with pleasure, health, and place?

Our work wasn’t about “positioning” or adding a surface-level layer of sustainability. It was about making Muze’s inherent value legible across every touchpoint from farmer equity to retail interaction.

Goal

Muze brought together many foundational elements: single-origin fine aroma cacao, local bean-to-bar craftsmanship, plant-based functionality, and a women-led business deeply tied to Ecuador's bio-cultural landscape.

Rather than treating these elements as a checklist or sustainability claims, our goal was to realize the full living potential of the brand.

Our goal was to:

Unearth and articulate Muze’s core essence, connecting human wellbeing directly to the vitality of the Manabí cacao ecosystem.

Redesign the packaging system into an instrument of clarity that invites the consumer to recognize and value the integrity of the whole system at a glance.

Align product innovation with regional stewardship, ensuring that social and ecological impact are understood as core drivers of product quality, not secondary add-ons.

Build an investment and commercial narrative that attracts value-aligned partners and demonstrates how local value retention drives long-term business strength.

Result

What began as a narrative alignment evolved into a deeper integration of Muze’s purpose, product expression, packaging architecture, and business model.

From “Functional Benefits” to Reciprocal Well-Being

We re-framed Muze’s narrative around the principle of reciprocity. When fine aroma cacao is grown in harmony with local ecosystems and processed at origin, its intrinsic restorative properties remain whole. The eater’s personal health is no longer isolated, but becomes directly connected to the health and vitality of the soil and communities in Ecuador.

Designing Packaging as an Instrument of Consciousness

We restructured the visual hierarchy and packaging layout to bring systemic transparency to the shelf. Rather than simply optimizing for visual noise or traditional “shelf-impact,” the new design acts as an educational bridge, making origin, craftsmanship, and functional benefits legible so consumers can make conscious choices effortlessly.

Building a Narrative for Systemic Capital

We translated Muze’s operational model into a clear sales and investment pitch designed for partners who look beyond short-term yield. We illuminated the entire value network: closed-loop production in Ecuador, direct farmer agency, women-led governance, and bio-diverse land stewardship as Muze’s true competitive advantage.

Impact

Muze now operates from a far stronger foundation to lead its category, engage retail partners, and inspire conscious consumers.

More importantly, Muze demonstrates what a business in the food ecosystem can achieve: a model where product excellence and human pleasure actively nurture the farmers, communities, and living ecosystems behind every bar.

At JellyShot, we believe that when strategy makes systemic connections clear, design and storytelling cease to be superficial tools for differentiation, and rather they become active drivers of systemic health, resilience, and growth.
